Men’s Ministry
The purpose of Men’s Ministries is to unite members and friends of Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church through monthly Christian fellowship and other scheduled activities, through service to each other, the church, and the community, through education and recreational programs that promote Christian growth, and through the sharing of common meals together as the family of God.

For 13 years the Men’s Ministries at Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church has been led by our able moderator Jim Nelson. During that time we have had many good experiences as men associating and being just men. We have had small group Bible studies; interesting speakers; tournaments; field trips; retreats; along with a lot of good old singing and food.

"Jesus Interprets His Own Cross"
July 9th and 10th

This month Dr. Kenneth Bailey concludes this five-part video series with “The Evangelists’ Interpretation.” These evangelists are the Gospel writers who chose only certain facts surrounding the cross and wrote them in such a way as to help believers understand what had happened. Bailey lays side-by-side the events recorded in each Gospel account, explaining why they chose what was to be included for their particular audience. He also shows the harmony between portions of Luke’s gospel and Isaiah 53.

Dr. Bailey states that the death of Jesus is more than just an event in the past; it is a window into the nature of the agony of rejected love which God endures today when we, His children, reject that love. As an example, he cites the failure of Peter who vowed to “go to prison and to death” for Jesus and yet was commissioned by the risen Lord to “Feed my sheep.”

Dr. Bailey draws upon his many years of living in the Middle East as a university professor in Beirut, learning the subtle nuances of the language and culture which enhance our understanding of the Scriptures.

Identical one-hour sessions will be held on Monday the 9th at 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday the 10th at 7:00 p.m. in Founders' Hall. The 40-minute tape presentation is followed by informal sharing of our own understanding and questions. Everyone is most welcome.
