“Tell me, and I’ll forget. Teach me, and I’ll remember. Involve me, and I’ll learn.” ~ Benjamin Franklin
Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church Preschool is a loving, Christ-centered, child-led preschool program that believes each child is a unique creation of God. We incorporate several philosophies which emphasize emergent curriculum, creativity, critical thinking and artistic representation. We view the child as a collaborator, communicator, and capable learner. We believe that children learn best in a play-based environment where they are able to construct their own knowledge through hands-on experiences, social interactions, project-based investigations and by building on what they already know. We provide an environment that allows children to continually apply the knowledge they gain in new experiences. We encourage each child to experiment, ask questions, test hypotheses, solve problems, and build theories. Teachers are involved in group learning experiences as a guide, researcher and resource. We believe a nurturing, positive atmosphere within a small school family creates a sense of belonging.
We follow the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
