The Deacon board of Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church is made up of faithful women and men elected by the congregation to serve with care, presence, and compassion. Each member and regular attender within the congregation is assigned to a Deacon as part of that Deacon’s care family.  Deacons then work in partnership with our Pastor to ensure that everyone who’s part of the PBPC community receives prayer, care, dignity, and correspondence as we fulfill the biblical call to love one another as Christ has loved us.

According to our Presbyterian Constitution, the Book of Order says that, “The ministry of Deacons as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, sincere compassion, and sound judgment should be chosen for this ministry.”  (Book of Order, G-2.0201)
